The Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) is a public institution specialising in cancer, with facilities in l'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Girona, Badalona, Tarragona and Tortosa, and in partnership with four tertiary hospitals attached to the Catalan Health Institute (ICS) and a network of 20 hospitals throughout Catalonia. ICO leads cancer care with a comprehensive approach, which includes, within the same organization: prevention, medical care, research, and undergraduate and specialized training.
The strategic aims of ICO, in line with its mission of working to reduce the impact of cancer in Catalonia, include fostering knowledge and obtaining health outcomes in the real world.
As a result of the part of our work aimed at giving back to the general public information on the health outcomes of our comprehensive approach to tackling cancer, the Outcomes Committee was created in 2019. Its mission is to obtain key health outcomes from the main processes that are implemented at the institution and it is chaired by the ICO Management Board.
